Welcome to Harvard

If you're like me, anything with 'Harvard' in the title is pretty intimidating (even when you have more than a few friends from the Harvard Business School).  But, this amazing and formidable academic institution has amassed an incredible art collection.

So if you find yourself in Cambridge, MA on a slow Saturday and are looking for a bit of culture, look no further than the Harvard Art Museums.

The institution is a combination of a few museums gifted to the University by prominent individuals, hence the pluralized name.

The Fogg Museum was gifted by Mrs. Elizabeth Fogg in memory of her husband. The Busch-Reisinger Museum focuses on modern Germanic art as the original collection owner enjoyed.

And, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum was created from the notable psychiatrist's gift to the university, including works from Asia, Europe, and the Mediterranean.

If you're lucky enough to have a friend who's a Harvard student, or are one yourself — Harvard IDs admit students and 1 guest for free!

Regular adult admission is a pretty typical $15, and there's usually a special exhibit on view that's included in the ticket price.

Even better, there's a great museum cafe where you can purchase a cuppa to enjoy in the open atrium courtyard before or after you check out the art!
