Last week's long weekend provided the perfect excuse to enjoy a whole day of museums!
We jumped in the car early, coffee in hand, and headed out to western Mass — ready to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and Mass MoCA.
Norman Rockwell's paintings and Saturday Evening Post covers have always been a love of mine.
There's something so real and human about the figures he captures and scenes he creates.
After laughing at the funny scenes, feeling wistful by others, and even grabbing a print for the house we headed north to Mass MoCA.
Currently, Mass MoCA has an amazing James Turrell installation, which was the real reason for driving out there.
I've heard so much about his work and had to experience it myself.
That being said — you do need to reserve your spot ahead of time.
(If we hadn't had this appointment looming over us, we would have found lunch in the lovely town of Stockbridge after the Norman Rockwell Museum — I fully recommend this when you visit this area.)
Main Street Stockbridge at Christmas, Norman Rockwell, 1967.
So, we sped up to Mass MoCA and stepped into the light of James Turrell.
After marveling over the amazing collection, we popped into Bright Ideas Brewing for a late lunch.
This place is right by the entrance of the museum, and they know their way around a brew.
We found out after we'd ordered our food that you can order take out from the BBQ place next door and they'll bring it over...next time!
This is just a mini post so I could share a bit about our day trip, but don't worry — I'll do proper posts on each museum so I can share my favorites.
