The last place I would think to search for wine would be the Adirondacks. And that certainly may have held true when I was growing up, but Adirondack Winery has changed that.
The tasting room is on the most northern block of Bolton's main street (Rt. 9N).
Started in 2008, Adirondack Winery — a family owned business — opened their first tasting room in Lake George Village in a small room adjacent to their production site. As demand grew, they expanded and opened a second tasting room in 2017 in Bolton Landing. For one reason or another (most especially that I'm typically in town early in the mornings), I had yet to try the wine and see the tasting room for myself. So when Adirondack Winery invited me in for a tasting, it was an easy yes (and we Musers like our wine).
Step inside and you'll be greeted by staff who make you feel right at home and explain how the tasting works. Tastings include 8 different wines of your choice (and there are nearly three dozen to choose from).
We did "The Works" tasting, which includes the ADK foodie plate (in case you want more local flavors), premium tastings, branded wine glasses and wine slushies.
Your tasting experience is extremely personalized because you get to select each wine you'd like to taste. And at each new pour you'll learn the history of that wine, what notes to pick up on and interesting facts about the aging process. All but two of their wines (the Meritage wines) use New York State grapes from vineyards in the Finger Lakes.
In early 2022 their production site in Queensbury will open to include tours and a tasting room — so stay tuned for when you can get a tour of production! They produce upwards of fourteen thousand cases of wine produced annually.

My favorites were the Baco Noir, Cab Franc, and the Serenity (a lavender infused rosé wine).
One tip: take a moment to really look at the full list of wines you have to choose from, not just what you assume you'll like. I prefer dry reds, so nearly glanced past the whites and infused and semi-sweet wines. Thankfully, the tasting room staff pointed out a handy column along the list of wines that notes how sweet they are on an ascending scale. They have quite the variety so you can easily find options from red to white to rosé that will match your preferred tastes — and you might just find a new favorite you'd never have considered before. A truly customized experience!

Love this! The Baco Noir was the one that really made me a believer. Had to buy a bottle to take with me – and a very enjoyable and reasonably priced way to support a local business! Can’t wait for the full winery tours and tasting room to open up!
